Ballet is a classical form of dance that originated in European courts, primarily Renaissance Italy. Travelling through France and Russia, ballet evolved into the schools, companies and theatrical pieces we know today.
Slaneyside School of Dancing offers the world renowned Royal Academy Of Dancing (RAD) syllabus. This syllabi covers not only Classical Ballet but also incorporates national dances from various European countries. This gives the dancer a well rounded education and the opportunity to study different styles of music, costume and history.
Modern dance developed in the early 20th Century. Taking the fundamentals of Ballet, this expressive dance form continually evolves. You only have to turn on the TV to experience this high energy dance form. From adverts to pop videos to reality TV shows, Modern dance is everywhere!
Both Modern and Jazz classes are offered through the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD). This international dance society is very progressive and is constantly evolving to remain current.
Tap is a percussive form of dance that was born from the melting pot of cultures in early 19th Century America. African tribal dancing, Irish and Scottish jigs as well as English clog dancing all went in the pot. Throw in a little Jazz and some metal tap’s on your shoes and you get Tap!
A combination of Rhythm Tap and the exciting, new ISTD syllabus is taught at Slaneyside School of Dancing.
