Modern dance began to develop in the early 20th century, taking inspiration from many forms of historical dance practices to form something truly unique and contemporary.
Our children’s modern dance classes welcome boys and girls from the age of 4, and will teach your child an expressive dance form that was born out of African tribal dances, developed for the stage and modernised into the contemporary jazz we have today. This exciting dance style is constantly evolving.

Our Wexford Children’s Dance Academy
The modern and jazz dance classes at Slaneyside School of Dancing are taught by the very talented Miss Sam, who is fully qualified and currently working towards her Fellowship, which is the highest ISTD qualification.
As well as the students developing their modern dance skills as they progress through the classes, they’ll have the opportunity to take regular examinations, achieve their grades, and turn their hobby into a passion.
Our Wexford dance academy also offers the chance for the children to take part in performances, theatre/cinema trips, and workshops that take place during the school holidays.
