Tap Dance Classes

Tap dancing has an incredibly rich history. Born out of slavery, this percussive art form was plucked from the plantations and taken to the sidewalks where, when you add a bit of modern jazz and theatrical flair, you have the tap we teach here at our children’s dance academy.

At Slaneyside School of Dancing, we welcome all children from the age of 4 into our children’s tap dancing classes, and offer a complete syllabus that includes a combination of both Rhythm Tap, and the exciting new programme from ISTD.

At our Wexford dance academy, whether your child has been passionate about dancing for many years, or they are looking forward to starting a brand-new hobby, the girls and boys in our children’s tap dance classes have the opportunity to work their way through the grading system. They will develop their tap skills, gain confidence, and develop their awareness of music and rhythm.

Our Children’s Dance Academy in Wexford

Our children’s tap dance classes, along with all other classes at Slaneyside School of Dance are taught by Miss Sam who is currently working towards the highest ISTD award of Fellowship.

The weekly tap dance classes will allow your child to immerse themselves in the full dance academy experience, where dance begins as a hobby, but has potential to develop into something much more.

From regular examinations, to putting on performances, our Wexford dance school will offer you child the opportunity to make likeminded friends, and have fun together as they master their new skills.

We also provide theatre/cinema trips, as well as workshops that take place throughout the Easter and Summer school holidays.
